MangoHeads find another excuse to party - "slipped and fell"

It's déjà vu all over again

All are invited to join the MangoHeads as they wrap up and celebrate another fun Strut on Sunday, January 29th at 3 pm at The Grove Spot, 3324 Virginia Street in Coconut Grove. There will be music, the straight-to-DVD premiere of the 2011 Strut, a slideshow of King Mango's Paparazzi Photos and yes - T-shirts!

This year's T-shirts, designed by Theresa Calluori, sold out by the time the parade started. We've ordered 100 T-shirts. There will be a few shirts available in each size/color and long-sleeved as well. King Mango did not forget his fair ladies this time, we've ordered women's tees, tanks and spaghetti straps.

At 4 pm, the 2011 Strut video by Orlando Santos will be shown in the back bar room. The 45-minute video will also be shown at 5 pm, 6 pm and the last showing at 7 pm. If you are in the Strut, this is your chance to see your crazy self and your crazy friends strut their stuff. Critics are already claiming the video is better than the book!

Thank you to all who came out for the 30th King Mango Strut!

It was a great success and a good time had by all!

Stay tuned, a date for the Wrap Party will be announced soon!

Due to lack of organization, Mangoheads meet to disorganize!

One more chance to mess things up

The last DisOrganizational Meeting is Tuesday, December 27 at 7 pm. Come on down to Greenstreet Café, 3468 Main Highway, in Coconut Grove!

If all the crazy late breaking news makes you want to enter a group in the Strut, this disorganizational meeting is for you! With King Mango's matchmaking services, if you want to be in the Strut but don't have a group, there are many groups looking for people. If you have a group and are looking for people crazy enough to strut their stuff, come to this last meeting. If you prefer working behind-the-scenes, King Mango needs you too. We need people to help out the day before the Strut painting signs, banners and funny props. We also need about 10-12 people the day of the Strut with set-up in the morning, group line-up and pacing during the parade.

If your group has a vehicle, has more than 20 people or you have line-up preferences, please make sure we know about it. Commodore Plaza - where we line-up - is only so big. There is only room for 20 parade vehicles on Commodore Plaza and trucks with trailers or flatbeds count as two.

To show your true holiday spirit and live up to our slogan, "Put the NUT back in CocoNUT Grove" wear your ugliest Christmas sweater for this last meeting.

Watch out! He's here!

Hakuna Matata! Zoo Miami’s Ron Magill chosen as Grand Marshal!

Former County Commissioner Katy Sorenson placed on Strut’s endangered species list.

Meet the Grand Marshal Wednesday, December 7th, 8 pm Greenstreet Café, 3468 Main Highway, Coconut Grove

Unlike the congressional "Super Committee," the bipartisan disorganizers of the King Mango Strut hammered out a quick resolution naming Ron Magill as Grand Marshal. With over 30 years as a wildlife expert and Communications Director for Zoo Miami, Ron has allowed Burmese Pythons to encircle his neck like the King Mango Strut encircles Coconut Grove. There's no better king of the jungle to lead the animal house of MangoHeads. As Grand Marshal of the 30th annual King Mango Strut, he’ll reign supreme to ‘Occupy the Grove’ on Saturday, December 31st at 2pm in Downtown Coconut Grove.

This year's Strut Celebrity is Katy Sorenson, the never recalled/never indicted/never removed-by-the governor, former commissioner of Miami-Dade County. Katy has been much closer to King Mango than Facebook's 4 degrees of separation. She was Strut's co-founder, Bill Dobson, boss. We are grateful that she never held it against him.

The annual satirical street parade has been a model of civic engagement and civil uprising with enough material for a pickapeppa spray and sauce combination. In this interactive parade, the spectators, the true occupiers, are encouraged to bring tents, lawn chairs and cardboard signs. For the King Mango royal watchers, it's the big hats and fascinators. King Mango is still looking for a few good MangoHeads to strut in the parade. There are no entry fees, no special skills or x-factor auditions required; just join the fun and strut your funny. If your group needs ideas or people, come to our next Disorganizational meeting on December 7th at GreenStreet Café. We also need behind-the-scenes help.

If you want to participate, contact the King at kingmangostrut@gmail.com or call the Mango Hotline at 305-401-1171. Follow us on facebook at www.facebook.com/kingmangostrut for the latest Mango news & tidbits.

MangoHeads to Occupy the Grove December 31st!

DisOrganizers looking for loose change

The disorganizers of the King Mango Strut have begun preparations for the 30th King Mango Strut, which will be held on Saturday, December 31st at 2 pm. King Mango is putting the call out for Mangoheads and wannabe Mangoheads to "Put the NUT back in CocoNUT Grove." The Kick-Off Party is set for Wednesday, November 2nd at 7 pm at GreenStreet Café, 3468 Main Highway, CocoNut Grove.

What started out in 1982 as an uprising of 99% kazzooists from the 1% King Orange Bowl Parade has grown into the wackiest event in South Florida. So far, 2011 has brought enough "winning" material for two or even three parades. So come on out and protest with the Mangoheads, bring your funniest idea and get ready to offend the offensive. If you have a group and a funny plan - great! If your group needs ideas or people, come to one of our Disorganizational Meetings at 7pm on Tuesday, November 8th and 29th at Tobacco Road and November 16th and December 7th at GreenStreet Café. We also need behind-the-scenes help.

Due to a bumper crop of low hanging fruit, Mangoheads begin to organize parade!

Organizers blame climate change

There will be parties and events to celebrate the Strut's big 3-0 leading up to Coconut Grove's wacky parade on Saturday, December 31st at 2 pm.

King Mango is putting the call out for Mangoheads and wannabe Mangoheads to "Put the NUT back in CocoNUT Grove." With Strut-material that can't be made up, 2011 has brought so far: CDC's 'zombie apocalypse', The Sperminator, Napping Air Traffic Controllers, Southwest Airlines new sun-roofed airplanes, The Obama Birthers, The Osama Deathers, The Housewives of Bin Laden, Crazy Gaddafi, Oprah withdrawals, more of Sarah Palin, Wedding Hats, Tornados gone wild, End of the World math errors, Weinergate... and yes, Winning! Locally, Miami has been in recall mode and the cops have been reenacting old Miami Vice shootout scenes for You Tube. Many Mangoheads feel there is already enough material for two or three parades.
